Patchy showers began traversing over the inland valleys late Saturday night, with steadier rain arriving early Sunday morning. Thunderstorms occurred over the high deserts and mountains, however this activity downgraded to light-to-moderate rainfall across the inland valleys. Rainfall was more persistent around Riverside and Moreno Valley on Sunday, with additional showers also affecting Hemet, San Jacinto and northern Lake Elsinore late Sunday and Monday. Cool, cloudy weather remained on Tuesday, with some additional rain falling in Lake Elsinore. In Temecula Valley's Wine Country, 0.26 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington). In Riverside's Canyon Crest neighborhood, a rather high total of 0.91 inches was recorded (courtesy of Jim Ness), echoing a similarly high total of 1.04 inches in nearby Moreno Valley. Our cool, unsettled weather will not last - the region will begin drying out and rapidly warming up on Wednesday, peaking on Saturday with high temperatures forecast to be near triple-digits in some inland valleys. Cooler weather is expected to return with low pressure early next week. Here are the rain totals for the WeatherCurrents network and associates:
